Skin & Waxing

I want to schedule a wax appointment. How long does my hair have to be?
Your shortest hair should be about ¼ of an inch, or approximately two-three weeks of hair growth.

Does waxing hurt?
Your first waxing appointment will hurt somewhat. However, we use an extraordinary wax that reduces discomfort and skin irritation. After your initial appointment you'll find that waxing becomes less painful and is achieved more swiftly as your hair growth thins. It is advised that you do not wax four days before, after or during your period. You can reduce discomfort by taking an Ibuprofen one half hour before your appointment and exfoliating the area that is to be waxed one day prior.

How Often And Why Should I Schedule A Facial?
As much as we consider facials a pampering luxury, to receive the optimum benefit from a treatment, consistency is the key. Regular facials are a primary ingredient in fighting the aging process as they detoxify your face of dead skin cells and commodones. Facials re-hydrate dry skin and help control oil productivity for oilier complexions. If you water your plants they bloom and flourish, if you neglect the "garden" it well...you know. It's the same principle with our faces so we recommend a client return every 4 to 6 weeks which coincides with the rate at which our skin cells shed and turn themselves over. But based on you finances and schedule do what is best for you. Any facial is better then no facial at all!

What are the benefits of getting facials? Will I break out afterward?
Our facials are customized to address your individual concerns and conditions. Facials can help to reduce breakout, fade sun damage, promote hydration, even skin tone, stimulate the lymph system and more. Facials are recommended at least once a month with a personalized skin care regimen for maximum results. On occasion, an abundance of clogged pores can bring congestion to the surface as part of the detoxification process (much like when someone begins to use Retin A.) However, this is a rare occurrence, unless it is a pre-existing condition. We refrain from using oily massage creams and products that can promote the formation of new pimples.

What if I don't know what kind of facial I need?
You can make an appointment for a facial without choosing a specific kind. On the day of the appointment, your esthetician will recommend the appropriate treatment based on your skin type and conditions.

What Skincare Products Do We Use And Retail?
Plantogen & T.Barnes Organic Skincare.

Massage

*Please note that massage appointments at Prive' must be made in advance as this is a one room skincare studio and appointments will have to be arranged to cater to the esthetician and massage therapist's schedules*

What will I have to wear for my massage?
You may disrobe to your comfort level. If you are more comfortable leaving your undergarments on, please do so. Another alternative is to bring loose-fitting shorts. Whichever option feels most comfortable to you, please be assured that the therapist will respect your modesty at all times through the proper draping of sheets and/or towels.

What are the benefits of massage?
Massage yields positive results both physically and mentally. Some of the many benefits include the reduction of pain and stress, lower blood pressure and better circulation, flexibility and immune function.

How often should I get a massage?
Massage frequency depends on your current condition and goals. Your therapist will be able to advise you on a recommended plan of care. In general, once per month is optimal for a maintenance massage.

What if I don't want a full body massage?
Before your first appointment, you will be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire. This includes a section in which you will select all areas of the body that are admissible to massage. If you regularly receive full body massages and want a more area-focused massage, feel free to let your therapist know.

What products do you use for the massage?
The therapist may use scented or unscented oil, gel, lotion or a combination of all of these. Please be sure to notify your therapist of any allergies or skin sensitivities you may have prior to treatments.
